Carl, was that photo taken today? I’m surprised to see green grass and no snow.

Also went skeet shooting back in those days. My Dad got a couple of deer over the years back then. I still remember the gutted one hanging from a tree in our yard. That neighborhood probably wouldn't be so keen on that anymore (changed a huge amount from the 60's). Good times for sure.

You think the stories around the campfires at GCs get wild, we have so many tall tale tellers that we have 3 large fire rings spread across the camping area. This year in addition to oldest Grand Son ill also have a 7yo Grand Daughter.

Tim, I must say sitting around the campfire with you and having my hear aids turned on increases the BS from you 10 fold!

We only have 4 members in camp that's in their late 60's, the rest are in early 50's or younger. Setting at the campfire closest to my camper one night one of the other olest men came walking up with his chair and joined in. He normally hangs out at another camp fire with his sons, DIL , daughters, SIL, and GKs and friends. He usually has 4 generations at camp.
Someone ask how things were going and he said he guessed he needed new campfire stories. Said they all got to laughing at him cause he was telling the same stories over and over. I told him he was welcome to use some of my stories if he liked. His responce was, that's the ones I was telling, he had heard me tell them so many times he knew them word for word. Yep, just like a GC

Thanks, I'm actually a little worried about running into some car/truck rallies, there have been some massive ones going on. Especially on this coming weekend. But starting off Friday night so I'll at least get a leg up for the first part of the journey.
And Barb, I won't dally, but it's not like the car, I can only get so many miles a day towing the car. Have to keep the speed around 60-62 to feel safe and not mess up the tranny in the car (top limit is 65). My plan is to get there sometime Sunday. So two nights on the road.
The excitement is building and I keep reminding the birds they better get all their stuff packed up soon.

Many cars are limited to 65 mph as is my MKX. Also my previous Saturn. But that's alright as I feel 65 on freeways is a comfortable safe speed.
Have a pleasant and safe trip. Don't know witch way you go but we have used a few "around" roads in the DC area after taking U.S. 17 out of FL. Nice enjoyable ride on 17. Also known as "The Coastal Highway." You can, if you wish, pick up 50 to 17 to 95 around Fredericksburg. Assuming you are taking 84 to 81.
Which way do you go?

I was told the tires on my RV are rated at 65 mph so that is where I set the cruise control. Here in AZ the speed limit on the interstate highways is 75mph which means lots of drivers doing 90. Curiously, most of the super speeders have California license plates. I get a lot of grumpy drivers passing me and frequent 1 finger salutes, but I just smile, wave (with all fingers upright) and keep rolling along at 65. I pay more in gasoline taxes than most cars and have the right to drive that highway, too.

Planning on 84/81 of course (no way do I want to go through NYC). I've taken a couple of cross-overs to 95 once I'm far enough south, currently thinking of going I64W. A lot will depend on time of day, traffic that I see, etc. I don't try to lock into just one route. Once I get to FL, I generally take I10W over to 301 and then down 301 till I can jump onto I75S. Too much construction going on with I4 so I've been avoiding that.

Funny how things turn out. My dad didn't hunt at all. He was a fisherman, I grew up spending lots of time camping and fishing. Even when I was in high school my dad had started guiding fishing trips. The Bass Totniments were in their infancy and I remember many of the up and coming professional fishermen would get dad to show them around the local lakes. He didn't think the professional fishing tournament system would amount to much. Funny that I being around all that talent I struggle to catch fish.
Drive safe!

My dad was an avid fisherman and occasional bird hunter. I still remember spitting out buckshot when we ate dove and quail.
I wonder how much of fishing is talent and how much is luck?
