I know exactly what you're talking about. I occasionally ponder the decision we made to become non-campers. My memories of our adventures are so delightful that I wish we were still "on the road again". Reality hits and we know that those days are behind us and what we're doing with our 50/50 Florida and Indiana routine is what we need to be doing.

I'm going to use Earlene's money to get there and back.

Tornadoes sent us to the safety of the bathrooms tonight here at the State Park. In walks a couple sporting bright red umbrellas with Bucky Beaver on them!

Average U.S. price for a gallon of diesel on Oct. 4 as reported by the EIA:

  • U.S. – $3.477, up 7.1 cents.
  • East Coast – $3.436, up 6.5 cents.
  • New England – $3.335, up 3.6 cents.
  • Central Atlantic – $3.572, up 5.8 cents.
  • Lower Atlantic – $3.362, up 7.4 cents.
  • Midwest – $3.43, up 10.4 cents.
  • Gulf Coast – $3.203, up 6.1 cents.
  • Rocky Mountain – $3.64, up 3.5 cents.
  • West Coast – $4.072, up 4 cents.
  • West Coast without California – $3.717, up 5.3 cents.
  • California – $4.369, up 3 cents.
According to Statistics Canada the price per liter of diesel on Vancouver Island is 2.12 per liter. So to get that to the US Gallon we multiply by 3.78 which is 8.0136 a gallon. At present its no where near that her in New York state.

Sure wish I could buy gas at those prices. And I'm not talking gas, I'm talking diesel. Those prices are really old. Diesel is double what's listed for new england in your chart. And that was the last time I filled up a couple weeks ago. If you've been following the news, gas has hit the highest price ever for each of the last 11 days (e.g., each day broke the previous days record). They seem to keep diesel a full $2 above gas around here.

And looking at CA - I can guarantee you there isn't a gas station in CA that sells gas less than 5, I think even less than 6. And in WA state, they just updated the pumps to handle double-digit dollar amounts! That's 10+ dollars a gallon.

He said he uses Earlene's money so that means he probably does hide his stash in the coach!
