In Savannah, Ga. the iceman loaded watermelons in with the ice. (In the summer.) For a quarter you could have real “ice cold” watermelon.

I 99.9% of the time carry my Leatherman [stainless steel] knife in my right rear pocket next to my wallet. Keep its blade razor sharp with butcher sharpener rod in kitchen [the rod was owned my my great grandfather in late 1800's - when he was Mayor of NY].

If away from house and sharpening is needed... I off hook the Leatherman's file blade and use its diamond-steel side to regain razor-like blade sharpness.

Many Christmas ago my son Troy gifted me a large Leatherman knife. Its name immediately became my "Troy Toy"! Everyone in family knows I have the knife always available. Thus I am often asked... can I borrow your Troy Toy!

BTW - I use the Leatherman tool very often. Being a masonry, concrete and tile building contractor, as well as full time hands on DIY type o' guy... it gets some really, really rough usage. Three times my Leatherman became so beat up that some of its several functions were no longer useable. Each time I mailed it back to Leatherman repair HQ. Each time they soon sent me a perfect condition, exact match tool... twice a completely refurbished knife... one time a brand new one!

More dangerous than a sharp one, you can hurt yourself.

But not as dangerous as a dull axe!

This is one of the best Christmas gifts ever from my wife about 40 years ago. She saved and saved for it. Neighbors loved me when I asked about tuning up their kitchen knives.

My spatula is 50 years old now and is sharpened on all three sides. Cut a sandwich with one wack or flip a pancake without it sticking. No cheap non stick skillet would last a week with it.

If they can't cut the fur off my arm they are not sharp enough.
