How have others dealt with this? Did you go with a buddy? Ignore the requirement and just practice on your own? Get some lessons.
Love to hear folks' thoughts and recommendations, especially for a class A driving instructor (retired or active) in the Exton/Downingtown/West Chester area of PA.
thanks in advance.

I didn't know PA was one of the states that had non commercial Class A requirements. My guess would be that anyone with at least the same level of license or higher could be your copilot. I am assuming you are talking about getting a permit to practice and then taking a test for the license?
I have had my Class A CDL for 30 years so I guess I better just keep it up in case Minnesota goes to that requirement. I would think with my CDL, Tanker, Doubles and Triples and Bus license I would be qualified to be your copilot. Find a truck driver that want to go camping for the weekend take a 200 mile trip and get some pointers from him.
