I made a post in a thread and later read through the thread and my post was gone. I didn't get a pm telling me why my post had been deleted or anything. My post was certainly within their rules I'm sure of that. I was very very careful since my whole thread had been deleted not long before that. I sent a pm to the first listed moderator in that section asking why my post had been deleted because I wanted to make sure I didn't break any rules. He said I should ask the moderator of that section. (I didn't bother telling him he's listed as the first moderator of that section) I sent a pm to the next listed moderator asking him. He said he can't figure out why it was deleted but he'd try to find out. That was on 7-11-10. Haven't heard anything since then. I wouldn't say that is very proper to delete a guys post without any explanation. Especially since I'm quite sure my post was well within the rules.

I go to rv.net for the jokes. Some of those know-it-all's are the funniest on the net. One guy said he had a lot to say one whole page and he didn't say nothing. nother guy posts on every thread he don't know much neither. Those folks are Legends in their on Minds. HEHEHE I love it

I've seen a couple of threads on RV.NET where the moderator simply deleted who sections. They delete the good posts and the bad posts when a thread goes out of control sometimes because when they remove just the bad posts, the result doesn't always make any sense - and I've seen a couple of those, too. Given the speed with which the threads there can get out of control (I've seen threads go from a single page to 5 pages of just awful stuff in 15 minutes), the mods don't spend a lot of time with them - they just throw the baby out with the bathwater.

AFAIK, once they've deleted the posts, they have no way to retrace their steps and notify any non-offending posters to a thread that has been severely changed.

Sure why not! lots of good advice, some varied opinions and lively discussion. I also belong to several other of these forums and gain from each and every one!

RV Net

I like to join them all so that I get more diverse views. Every site had its good and bad points. Just get what you want and move on.

Yes, I use RV.net.
Also check in and search here almost daily.
When we first started out in RV ing, I asked question on here and there.
For the most part, we got almost the same answers.

I read 5 different rv forums, and each seems to have their own distinct personality, not only based on the topics but also based on the moderation that occurs. I am not sure exactly how it happens but seemingly posts and threads disappear on rv.net more often than some of the others. I also think that other forums instead of deleting a thread, opt to just close it.

Its a bit of the old story, he who has the gold rules, and since they use financial resources to operate the forum, they have the right to do whatever they think best. And that's the way it should be. Users then have the opportunity to visit the forum or simply stop, and that's the way it should be.

I use RV.net too, but the this place is much friendlier.
There's a lot of information over there, but I don't like the way it is unfairly moderated, and there is a lot of confrontation and trolling.
There are a couple of things that rv.net is known for, the weight police and locking threads. Not to mention the spelling/grammar nazi's and generally mean people.
I don't feel comfortable over there, not like I do here, and I get tired of walking on eggshells everytime I reply to a post. I kid you not, is have typed out replies before only to delete it before I posted, just so I didn't have to get into an fight over something trivial.
I only want to help, if I have something to share that I feel will benefit the conversation, I add it, if not, I generally keep quiet.

I have used rv.net almost daily since 2001. I guess I must be one of the lucky few who seems to have no troubles there. But, there is a lot of message traffic on rv.net so someone else thinks it is useful also.

I have recently discovered this forum again. I find it useful too.

The people over there are just like us. Its friendlier here because all the not so friendly posts get deleted.

I'd been an RV.net member for about 18 months before a link to iRV2's Workhorse goup led me here a couple of months ago. On balance, I find this forum a lot more informative, but not as easy to navigate. I'm sure that familiarity will make that easier.

I think the majority would rather be in a friendly place, than uncomfortable.
