Salesmans Dictionary

What the salesman says:"Someone left a light on or didn't use battery disconnect"

What he really means: the batteries are old and need to be replaced

What the salesman says: "Tires have alot of tread left on them.

What he means: tires are old and weather checked from sitting around and need to be replaced.

What he says: " The previous owner was meticulous about maintenance"

What he means: there are no maintenance records but we made it pretty inside hoping that distracts you.

Salesman: "very low miles"
Meaning: not started/driven for years at a time.

Salesman: "tell me what you think of this rig"
Meaning: we know it's a piece of crap but need to know what to hide from the next customer.

Salesman: we'll make sure everything works before you leave with it
Meaning: We'll slap some duct tape and baling wire on things just so it lasts until you get home.

Says: Stored under cover
Means: stored under a blue tarp in the winter

Says: all new flooring
Means: original carpet/tile was destroyed by abuse and neglect.

Says: rides like a dream
Means: we aired the tires down so you don't notice the bumps

Salesman: was a top of the line rig in it's day
Meaning: it's old, worn out and overpriced

I could go on but should probably work a little bit today. Please feel free to include your own translation of salesmaneese that you've encountered.

Says: your truck/tow vehicle is a perfect match

Means: let get this signed and get you off our property before you figure out you'll need a $65,000 truck to pull and stop this beast

Very popular color: It's boring ass gray like 2/3 of the vehicles on the road.

You won't see yourself coming and going in this: It's a weird color that no one else would be stupid enough to buy.

"Stored under cover" actually means 'the roof is full of leaks and there's lots of rot under it'. My sister is very knowledgeable on this subject.
