Hi

I do it all the time, people walk by at work and say Hello. And I say something like Hi lo or something that doesn't even sound like hello. Then we pass each other and I get thinking, wow that guy must think I'm nuts or something. I forget a lot these days, an hour ago I remembered I forgot to give my wife one of the Xmas gifts i got her, it was just a gift card for manicure that I was going to put in a wallet I gave her, hmmm oh well better late than not at all.
I walk downstairs to do something or get something and get down there and think, hmmm what did I come down here for. Was going to say something else but forgot what is was. I'm 54 and if things get worse I will probably be trying to get into the wrong RV at the storage lot.

Dale M: I'm 50 .... and I have been doing the same thing ALL the time. I'll want to google something on the computer and by the time I get to my desk and open a window ... I've forgotten what I wanted to look up. : ? (

I drive my DW crazy by referring to everything as "the thing"
"Honey....wheres the thing"...."honey, have you seen the thing"...."Honey when your out shopping can you pick up some of those things"

Hmmmm....on second thought ...maybe I'm just driving her crazy

I had in the past a "photographic" memory. Its not as good as it sounds. one day I said to my self, Self who cares and Self said no one but you, so now I don"t care if I forget.

I know exactly why we do that !!!

or at least MY excuse is that....

forgetting is an ACTIVE process...

If we weren't busy with SO many things we could easily remember that one thing...
but so many things we SHOULD have done and didn't flood our mind when we are going into that room, that the one thing we went in there for slips our mind...

that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it

I'm 48 and I'm really bad with faces and names.Wost part of this is that everybody in the area knows about it and treats me differently because of it. Most are polite about it but, you bump into the occasional jerk. Though I've never been good at it. How do you expect me to remember every person I met once at a keg party 25 years ago is beyond me. Besides people forget they change and they don't look like they did 25 years ago. But, it's getting worse. I figure I got about 10 years before I'm a vegetable. I worry about that some.

The only time I mix up words and get different meanings is when DW asks me to do something.

Sometimes I don't even hear her.

So far, for my age, i still speak alright, although I have been told I should have "held my tongue."

Actually, there is a business type of paper cutter that is called a guillotine used for cutting thick stacks of paper. It has a blade that drops straight down like the blade of a guillotine instead of being hinged at one end. I have a "small" one that handles up to a 1 1/2" stack of paper.

If you ever meet a sixty-something blond at a campground and she corrects you by saying "Do not use vague pronouns", say "Hi" to my wife, the English teacher.

She actually came out with my favorite word transposition - "Some people are just blind to the oblivious"

As far as getting the right words out of my mouth in a timely fashion, I sometimes think I hear them saying "HELP - I'm stuck in his brain, and I can't get out!"

Ah well, that's what comes from celebrating your 39th birthday 30 times.
