We thought about going to see my sister 175 miles away on Sunday, but it's so Hot,, we'll just stay home and save the gas money for later in the year, not to mention missing the holiday traffic. Might pull the motor home out in the yard (2 acres) and camp at home....

We're headed up to the Truckee river in the California Sierras and I'm hoping that the smoke from all these fires has cleared some.

Spent the weekend at Buckhorn RV resort near Kerrville, TX. What a nice place. People were helpful and friendly. Breakfast in the big red barn on Sat morning. BBQ and an ice cream social tonight. Met some good people and exchanged the "newbie learning experience" stories. Lots of laughs. Had to tell my wife to quit tell all my secret stuff. Heading home tomorrow.

That was a good four day week end. But, all my week ends are four day nowadays. Relaxed. Did a little metal detecting. Had supper with friends. I had never had canned cornmeal biscuits. They were good with the camp made chilli. Roasted some marshmallows. Came home Monday afternoon. Yep. Purdy gud week end.

Wife and I will be in Phiffer State Park in Big Sur California. Seven days no hookups, no phone, no TV. Just relaxing with a few good books and the dogs.

Staying at Harris Beach State Park in Brookings Oregon. Oregon state parks are great, especially compared to our California parks. Very nice and clean, full hookups available, even cable tv at this one. $21 per night. You can't beat it, they even have laundry facilities and a fantastic view of the sun going down over the pacific.

Back in California now at a state park along the "Avenue of the Giants". $35 dry camping, but it sure is nice being surrounded by all these giant trees. All this wood in the air has a certain acoustic effect, almost like being in a huge church sanctuary. Sadly, we'll be home tomorrow but soon we'll be hitting the road again for a longer trip, maybe down south to the gulf or something.

Wow. Those big trees are beautiful. I would love to see them one day. We are from East Texas and have camped recently at Beavers Bend in Oklahoma. It's very pretty there.
