You can draw disability until age 65 then social security kicks in. You will be drawing the same amount you had on disability.

Lucky you, yours was operable. Mine's not and I have 3-6 months. Throw in a pulmonary embolism just for fun. I won't be sucking off of my own contributions for long I'm only 58 btw.

Thanks. Nobody has any idea of what the spouse goes thru until it happens to them. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Why we can’t seem to agree on spending enough money to solve this monster called cancer is beyond me. I also lost my mother to it, both sisters and one brother have had (and survived) it, and now my best friend. Enough already.

The amount you are paid has nothing to do with any employee. It’s based on your earnings record. Social security workers some good and some worthless. I am retired from civil service. I personally think the people who work at Social Security are the people who can’t get a job anywhere else and just have a degree. I was overpaid in the beginning and explain to a person who told me I wasn’t. Now I am having to repay that overpayment from seven years ago. Both wives needed lawyers for their claims. Judges rulings in both were favorable. They both had 3+ back surgeries plus numerous other things. Anything fed workers are involved in can be screwed up. Ask one.
