A quick check of Keystone 65 plans show a maximum out of pocket of $6700. What am I missing?

This depends on your income. Premium varies individual to individual, and year to year.

Correct. These are base rates.

Higher if your income is higher. It's tiered to income.

The best thing to remember when choosing a medicare supplementary plan is that all F plans have the same coverage, all G plans have the same coverage, and etc. So what you need to look for is who offers you the best price. We also went with a G plan because the cost of paying Medicare's deductible more than made up for the difference in monthly premiums.

To answer your question about do you need one? Only you can decided that but, I'm am sooooo glad that we got the G plan for my husband last year. He ended up with AFIB and after many tests, including 2 cardioversions, we didn't have to pay a penny of the cost since his deductible had already been met earlier in the year. We would have been talking about thousands of dollars, lots more than the cost of the year's worth of premium. So yes, I'm glad we decided to get the plan G supplementary.

The other thing to know, is not all plans are available in all states or even in all counties within the state you live. If you want to travel, stay away from Medicare Advantage plans as most of them, you will end up paying big bucks for being out of their area.
