I am not a fan of car racing ! Having said that I congratulate Danica on her victory . Apparently she is doing what she likes and must be doing it quite well. I hope she wins the Daytona 500 . I think she is capable of doing so. I also think there a lot of car racing fans out there that think it is a mans sport and Danika is infringing on their territory. keep up the good work Danika.

Not mentioned or commended nearly enough. And, she had a lot stacked against her back then.

I for one thinks that Danica has proven herself to be worthy competitor over the years...going from one class of racing to another is difficult for any driver, she even overcame the "girls can't do it as good as man" school of thought.

Danica is way down the list of women's accomplishments in auto racing....Shirley Shehan, Della Woods, Judy Lilly, Shirley Muldowney and the list goes on and on. She just happens to be the most recent woman in auto racing. In a time the media coverage is larger than ever. The women who pioneered women in auto racing had a far tougher job of accomplishing anything, than Danica has, or ever will. Danica's journey in motorsports is a cake walk compared to what the women of the 60s and 70s hand to endure.
As you can see though...her presence in the sport has worked...3 pages of conversation about someone's 1st "pole" position.

The only thing I would like to see is for her to have the opportunity to race as just another competitor and let the results speak for themselves. I'd hate to see some "good ole boy" bumper-tag her into the wall Sunday just because she's Danica Patrick.

Upon further reflection, if some "good ole boy" did that, I suspect that her boss would become somewhat upset. I don't know that I'd want to have Tony Stewart mad at me at Daytona! That could wind up being both painful and expensive!!

Her poor showing in Nationwide may not be the same in Cup cars. If you look at the 2 years(2000 and 2001) that Jimmie Johnson spent in Busch (now Nationwide) cars, he won once and finished 10th and 8th in the points. Then he moved to Cup and the rest is history. Her driving style may suit the higher horsepower cars.
