UPS delivery

I got a call from ups a couple days ago, they had a package returned by driver and stated I must drive appropriately 10 miles across town to pick up. I ask why it wasn't delivered, since they just drop packages off at the door. She could not answer. I ask that they Send on the next truck, I was told no.

Couple weeks ago, UPS Tracking stated as of 5 pm our package was out for delivery so we watched for it.

At 7PM UPS truck drove by and kept going.

8PM Tracking Update stated Driver unable to deliver due to 'incorrect address'

Strange......address that listed as 'incorrect' was the correct actual address. Nothing incorrect about it.

Package was then rerouted to UPS pickup site......15 miles away and not open until Monday Afternoon (Delivery was on Friday)

E-mails back/forth.....UPS non apologetic. Too bad/so sad.......new driver/overwhelmed

Requested refund of 'shipping' charge as they failed to deliver ($8.95).
Corporate stated 'we' would have to get vendor to request because they initiated shipping.
Talked with vendor....copy of UPS E-mails sent.
Vendor requested shipping refund..........UPS corporate denied/item was sent.
Vendor sent us a $50 Gift Card

SO.....BAH HUMBUG to UPS (Will not use them for any more shipping)

And a GREAT BIG HUG/WET KISS TO------------BIG 5 SPORTING GOODS

How would they know if you drove appropriately or inappropriately?

Some years ago we sold a product. Shipped one to FL from WA. Arrived damaged, UPS said it was inadequately packaged but it was the only one ever damaged in shipping. Had to send a new one at our cost, including shipping. Asked UPS to send the damaged one back. They refused and said it belonged to the recipient now. Cost us two products and two shipping costs (about $40 each for shipping) which was far more than the profit we should have made.

I meant to say approximately 10 miles. Unfortunately I don't have the free time due to family illness, that is the reason I ordered over the Internet to begin with.

Apparently you did not speak to the people high enough up the food chain. We have had the same issue and the package was redelivered promptly.

Who initiated the call? Seems anytime a ups driver can't leave a package there is a note left at my door. Were you expecting a package? Are you sure it was really ups? And I'm surprised the lady on the phone could or would not tell you why it was not delivered.

I find it interesting that we are talking about a company that has delivered millions if not billions of packages. I have used UPS for years without any problems and never ran into a rude employee. Maybe I am just lucky? BTW, I have no personal or professional relationship with UPS.

FWIW They will also not deliver to the inner row of apartment complexes where they stagger one row behind the other. I had that happen when I shipped something to my son.

From my perspective they are usually OK but seem to have some issues with losing sight of the truck or taking very long to do a delivery. Probably because they are very time constrained.

Had the same thing happen to me two weeks ago, except it was FedEx. Said my package was undeliverable because of invalid address. Called them the same day and they stated they would deliver the next day. The next day the package was delivered and the driver I spoke with stated that yesterdays driver was just being lazy. They both knew of my address and deliver all the time. I was surprised with the frankness of the drivers response to another driver, but again appreciated the honesty. Didn't change anything I still use FedEx and UPS.

Both UPS and Fedex are excellent companies, but any company that big is bound to have a few sub-par employees. If you escalate to a supervisor, my guess is that would solve the problem.

Especially Fedex and I do have an interest in them. It's called a retirement Ck.

that is correct, the recipient had the package and UPS can not demand it back, however most companies would have told the recipient, return the damaged item for inspection and after inspection a new item will be reshipped...UPS,if they had It the damaged goods, would have returned it to you...they did not want it
