Warning!! Phishing email posing as Netflix
I got a Phishing email from someone posing as Netflix today.
It said my account couldn't be charged and a link was provided to update my account settings. Very convincing looking page but "a" was used instead of "an" in a sentence. Major companies usually don't have this type of grammar errors.
I logged into my REAL account and forwarded it to them before deleting it.
Be careful out there

I literally get that crap all the time
Just had an AT&T alert about my account and i don't have it
The phone calls are another thing and they use innocent people's numbers
If I asked politely to remove me from their list and they called again I would rip into them and it was over
Then the google 10 group text and we worked together to block the actual spammer
People need to get a real job

Yep, get stuff like that constantly even on my cell phone so I never answer the phone unless I recognize the #. They never leave a message either. A few call back several times so I block them.

My phone doesn't even ring if the caller is not in my contact list. The caller can leave a voice mail if it's a legitimate call.
Don't ever click on a link in an email. If you get an email from someone you do business with saying there's a problem and "click this" to fix it, don't "click this." If you want to check, go to your account the normal way by typing the URL yourself or clicking the shortcut you'd normally use. Don't trust the link in the email.

We have Earthlink as our internet source. Their web mail is set up that if a name isn't in your address book, it goes into a Suspect Mail folder. If it's known spam, it gets automatically dumped. A for instance, just today. I can take tumeric, save my photos to a photo stick, get a walk in bath tub, buy shark tank junk or get 'enhanced'. I'll never open one of these though I do have to look at them at least occasionally since all needed corresponders are not in the mail box.
Additionally, we have 10 additional anonymous email addresses with Earthlink and one is used for any RV related, another for Amazon and so on.
We don't use 'smart phones' so that isn't a problem with out ancient flip phones

I used to get repeat spam phone calls, saying hello was met with silence while the automatic machine put me in que, so I began answering with "county detention facility"; no more calls.

The worst one we got was several years ago.
Someone called and my wife answered. The other person claimed that our late son had opened a charge account and had listed her as a cosigner. Claimed that he still owed $3000, plus interest, and if she didn't pay the money owed, they were going have their lawyers freeze our accounts!
She got very upset and hung up and called me right away. I told her that it was a scam and that a lawyer couldn't freeze our accounts, that requires a judge. I had her call our bank to verify what I told her.
She called me back in a few and, WOW, was she mad!
I told her to call them back and ask for a supervisor and a written bill!
She got hung up on that time!

If you get ANY alert/warning via text, e-mail, phone call......ignore it
Then contact the 'entity' directly and inquire
(Bank, Investment, Internet, Phone ----any company)
NEVER....EVER click on link, respond to a link, and e-mail or phone number provided
NEVER---EVER
Simple.

Forwarding an email to the company they are spamming is no good unless the full message header and text is sent. By header it is not the "To, From, CC lines.
In MAC Mail click on "View, Messages, Raw Source. Copy the Raw Source then forward the email to ABUSE@ or/and WEBMASTER@ the organization being spammed. Good organizations have abuse or webmaster emails for that type of complaints.
If just the email is forwarded the raw source of the spam is not contained in the email and is only your raw source information.
If you read through the Raw Source you can see where a reply to: or link is headed in a different direction than what you thought it might go to.
As stated never open a link in an email unless it is from a trusted source.

Permanent Scam Avoidance Thread?
Lately I've been getting all sorts of RV related email spam/scam from sites claiming to be dealers selling campers, boats and auto parts. Offers to take that old RV off my hands kind of crap too. Cash for your camper. Plus there are the usual scams, bogus health insurance offers, your account is canceled due to no payment, your relative has been arrested kind of junk too. My mother in law who's 89 years old has become so cynical she thinks every email is spam (which is good, but my wife is kind of tired of answering Mom's calls about them!). Rampant internet fraud has gotten me to the point that I hesitate to buy stuff online from anyone but the biggest of big name online retailers, which makes getting rarer parts for my camper, old boats and even older cars more and more difficult. I buy from the smaller guys only if I can call them to confirm they are sellers, have what I want, and I have a confirmed physical location. THAT'S how bad online fraud is in 2023!
We ought to have a thread listing known good sellers and another one that discusses ongoing RV targeted and related scams.

While it's not the best email service, I've stayed with Earthlink as they have a Suspect and a Known spam blockers plus a folder where you can block 500 spammers. They also have a separate 10 anonymous email address list that you can use with forums like iRV2. Your post came in under one of those sites.
When it comes in under Suspect, I at least can look at what the title is before opening. Known spam gets immediately dumped without looking at the content.
As to a list of acceptable sites - well let's say that even Amazon and Paypal has its share that show up.
It's amazing how many spammers are "interested" in my eyesight, liver, house gutters, credit enhancement and (Anderson) windows along with my, ahem, male health
