What Is A Veteran

A "veteran" - whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States Of America," for an amount of "up to and including his life." That is honor, and there is way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact...

You may be correct but it amazes me the number of thank you's I get when I wear my old USMC cover (that's a kind of a baseball cap -a cover was what USMC called it in the early 1960's). Certainly a different and better greeting from the the reception in the 1960's.

I hadn't thought of my AF serial number in over 40 years, (Not the SSAN used later) until I read this thread. I still remember it.

X3! I appreciate the service of ALL of our veterans!

I spent 9 years in the Army NG back in the 50's and 60's, but never had any active duty service except for summer field training.
