My first new car, a '64 Mustang. That's the good news. The bad news is it was the cheapest new Mustang you could buy, with NO options. No power steering, no radio, 6cyl 3-speed stick transmission. Looked great, drove awful.

'60 MGA baby blue. Fun little car.
First car was a '57 Buick Special with a factory 3 speed manual transmission. One of only 127 built by Buick. Went 50 mph in first gear because of the low ratio rear-end.

50 years ago I owned and drove a 1954 Ford pickup equipped with a 347 Pontiac engine and beefed up hydramatic trans, and a 1963 Chevy Super Sport two door hardtop with a 327 engine and powerglide trans. (Wish I still had them)

1962 Chevy Impala. Second car was a 37 Ford Coupe with a 409 Chevy engine I had put in it. Dad sold it as soon as I left for the AF. Always said it was a death trap.

It is a mistake to allow any mechanical object to realize that you are in a hurry.

In 1965, a 1956 Chevy 2 dr sedan with a balanced & blue printed 327 motor-built the hard way from a 283 truck engine. The next year I bought a '56 Chevy Nomad wagon and rebuilt everything and put a 300hp Corvette motor in it. A week after I got it all together my wife and I got in it and made a 3 month coast to coast trip, staying in national parks and campgrounds most of the time. Put over 10,000 miles on that car and the only problems I had were a leaking fuel pump and a bad speedometer drive gear. Ah, the good old days! Now I drive a 1963 Studebaker supercharged GT Hawk, the car I wanted when I graduated from HS...
