So my dad was a submariner during WW2, serving in the pacific. His favorite was “das boot”,

Das Boot in the original German. I don’t speak German but found the movie much more powerful in German with subtitles than the English dubbed version.

I agree with those who said Das Boot. I read the book first and can tell yuu they left out sixty five percent of the book as the movie would have required two intermissions. It was a true story. The story revolves around a recent college graduate that was sent along aboard to write propaganda for the folks at home to read. The author of the book was indeed that very man. It takes place
right after the English invented radar and things were turning sour for the Germans. Don’t miss it.

Great choices, and in that order. Operation Petticoat is a fun diversion.

I too am an ex-Bubblehead and I have to agree with the Senior Chief. (Mainly because I don’t want him to make me mess crank again.)
