While on the road, do you "Wave" to passing RVs?

While this may seem like an odd question, I am a avid motorcyclist. Waving to passing motorcyclist is a common and very welcome practice. It is interpreted by those of us in the know as being kindred spirits passing on the road to and or from an adventure.

In the past I've waved to passing RVs of all types an sizes. Unfortunately due to speeds and limited visibility of the other captain, it is often times difficult to see if we've been given a return friendly wave.

Therefore the question:
1. "When you're driving a two-lane road - therefore close enough for each driver to see the other - do you or have you ever waved to that passing captain?"
2. "Do you recall if your friendly wave was returned in kind?

Not on a divided highway. Generally, it seems that most drivers are too far back from the windshield to be seen, so most folks wouldn't know if we did or not. On a two lane or when being passed, sometimes. Depends on how busy I am or how fast I'm being passed. Seldom pass other rv's going the same direction.

Most times on a two lane road or being passed, other drivers will wave back.

For me it is the same with bikes. With other vehicles it is "sometimes", depending on other circumstances. This is probably true both ways.

Just my 2c.

I 'learned' to wave from riding a motorcycle too.
Kept it going when I had a Miata, we'd do the 'Miata wave' (raise and lower the headlights).
On a 2 lane road I'll wave at other RVs, never noticed anyone waving back.

Also from a motorcycle background, I do although lately I notice quite a few who don't. Where I'm from, it's a courtesy thing whether you know the person or not (Western small population culture I guess). With our motorhome, we do wave for the same reasons you mention and more often than not we get a wave back. If we're both fighting a cross wind then maybe not so much. Kind of a nice way to just acknowledge sharing the lifestyle.

Do you wave at all RVs - Travel trailers, Class A,B,C, Vans, truck bed camper?

When I had a Casita I did wave occasionally to other Casitas. They are a unique TT.

During our 7 yrs of travel GF WAVED .......I just did a hand flip

Majority of times.....no return wave

And we rarely traveled anything BUT secondary/back-roads

My motorcycle riding days......always got a 'hand flip' back didn't matter whether it was Japanese, English, German, Italy, America made bikes.
ALL returned/acknowledged

Usually not in the motorhome, but sometimes if there is a good driver to driver view. But often when in the Jeep to other jeeps - if older than JK or modified JK. Else a waste of a wave.

I always wave, and usually get one back in return. If I identify the coach as a Discovery soon enough I always toot the air horn also!

Two lane road I always wave and get a few returns on the ones I can see.

Had a 1990 and 1991 Miata and always did the "Miata Wave".

I wave as I meet another RV on a 2-lane road. It's useless on a 4-lane or more because they will never see me!

When meeting another RV on a 2-lane road the tendency is to keep your eyes on the road since there's not a lot of clearance between the two rigs. For that reason, even though I wave, I usually don't see if the other person waves back!

Like many of the others, yes on a two lane road. When we first bought the MINI we always acknowledged another owner but now there are so many of them on the road we no longer do so.

Do you wave to new arrivals at a campground?
