Why make snarky remarks?
Sadly, I'm seeing more and more folks making snarky remarks on IRV2! There's no reason to cut someone off at the knees when they say something you don't like or agree with!
Just take a minute to read your post before submitting it, asking yourself if you would really like someone saying that to you, or if you would say the same thing standing face to face with them.
One reason I came to the IRV2 forums was that the vast majority of the folks here were really courteous as well as helpful. Lets all try a little harder to give our new members that same impression.
I try to remember what my parents told me growing up. "If you can't say something nice then keep your mouth shut!" Works every time!

Folks in general are more snarky..........employees attacking customers, customers attacking employees, attacks/disparaging remarks on websites...many get real nasty
Big divide across the Nation.......media playing it up..........pandemic overload.....lack of up bringings/manners........no personal responsibility/consequences
Oh the list goes on and on and on.........
On a side note:
Dad always said "If you say it---own it"
Nothing I post is anything different then what I say in person cause I own what I say.

I wish I could argue with you. I wish I could point out how wrong you are. But, in my most snarky typeset, I have to admit what you say is true. Probably more to it than what you have condensed it down to, but so true. I think the anonymity of the internet is one piece of the puzzle.
My wife and I were discussing it last night. I don't recognize the country today. In 18 months, it has changed. You can blame it on COVID, but the reality is that COVID just gave people an excuse. They were already had taken aim at a goal of destroying the country, the progress we were making on many fronts.
Those of us who see the damage that is being wrought, all we can do is try to stand in the face of hit and set a better example.
Thank you for your service.

Here’s a link to our Community Rules that we all agreed to upon joining. Please note the first one about being courteous and nice. If you see a remark that strikes you as snarky , report it and our staff will send you a thank you pm and take a look at it. Our limited volunteer staff cannot possibly see all the posts everyday and we rely on our members to assist.

I've been active on this forum because, overall, there aren't a lot of snarky remarks. We really do have a great cross-section of the country here: young, older; dirt poor, pretty well off; 1 day of experience, 30+ years of experience; east coast, midwest, west coast, north, south.
And all of that is before we even get started on who makes the best RV!
I've only blocked one person who posted several snarky comments. If they don't have an audience, I'm hopeful they will change or go away.

It's that way on most forums any more. I've deleted my membership in most due to the snarky remarks.

Snarkiness is a learned behavior. Some people behave based on the behaviors of people they see on television. If you take the microphone away from politicians, there would be far less snarkiness Bring back Walter Cronkite, and people would be nice to each other again.

We do see a fair bit of snark passed around. I like to insert some humor into my posts and responses because that's who I am. I assume others are the same. I would absolutely say to your face anything I've posted here. If anything, meeting me in person would be a double barrel load because I would rather laugh than complain about the irony in most thing's existence.
Some posters do take it too far. There are definitely a few folks that seem to assume the worst in other's responses and don't mind unloading an attempt to humiliate what they see as a lack of knowledge or ability or whatever it is they see. I agree, that's wrong in any situation and doesn't contribute to the conversation at all. As others have said, there's a lot of harshness out there right now. A lot of exposed nerves. We've become used to disagreeing with each other, pointing out each other's flaws, and criticizing. Let he who is without sin...

Yep … it’s disheartening when you post then a couple of people troll you … I feel like it happens regularly…
I think park of the issue is people reading the post should give the posters the benefit of the doubt that they are trying to say something worthwhile … it’s easy to read things different from the way they were intended or due to an error in word choice

I am a member of a bunch of forums and this one is the least nasty of them all. As another poster said, I don't post anything I wont say to your face and sometimes you have to call it as you see it. People post here to get feedback on their RV situtation. To me, all imput, even snarky comments, can move the discussion along and result in a successful outcome to the original poster's query.

Snarky may be in the eye of the beholder.
Are we really asking for answers to the title question or are we just lecturing other on how to post?
Was that a snarky response?
I don’t feel that is was and I would ask the OP, or anyone else the same question if we were face to face, whether I knew them or not.
First we’d have to agree on the term. Would it only include truly rude or disrespectful remarks, or would it also include humorous lighthearted banter? It can be difficult to decipher one from the other when we are only viewing the written word. I’ve seen examples of the latter between members who are good friends, but it could be perceived as disrespectful or snarky by someone who is not aware of the relationship.
Just some thoughts.
