We moved to Tucson 2 years ago and love it....we are from the Seattle area with lots of gray days...very different here! We live about 30 min North of downtown Tucson in a 55+ community called Saddlebrooke...you could not pay me to live in Phoenix! Much warmer, terrible traffic and lots of smog...yuk!!

This southern boy visited Phoenix and Tucson last June for the first time. That was brutal. 120 degrees in the TT during the day, 85 at night WITH the air running. It gets hot here too, periods @ 105 with 90% humidity, but it's somehow different. I don't see how people do it in the desert. Maybe it's what you're used to. I quit camping when it's like that. Only reason i did it in AZ was because I was on vacation 2000 miles from home. I was scared to death of getting a scorpion sting too

I snowbird from mid October till first week of April in Quartzite in a campground.....at this campground, I sometimes help the maintenance guy out with stuff along with other camping folks.....I carry tools.....and spend my time doing mods to the trailer, and was a member of another forum that I had 16,500 posts in in 2 1/2 years....so this year, having just joined this forum, I hope to contribute to stuff I know about....have thought about look'n at another area, but kinda settled in there....the wife stays here to manage her business thru the time I'm gone, so it's nice to come back to watch the rain.....If needing anything major, there's always Amazon and Parker or Blyth aren't that far away and the same for Yuma....it gets hot there also, but always a breeze...just gear up for the conditions

I was in Phoenix one time about 2 years ago visiting my sister. It was 112 for 2 days and 114 the last day. They showed the weather forecast for the whole state. Phoenix was going to be 114 again and Flagstaff 72. I said by nise visiting come see us we are going to Flagstaff. By the way I was there in March this year and it only got to 82. Much nicer in the winter. Must be why it is such a Snowbird capital. I try to get out of the Fort Worth area in the summer, so Phoenix is out.

We did have a record 108' day recently so it can get hot. I was replacing the brakes on the motor home that day and survived. The humidity was either 6 or 8% so dehydration is a huge risk when working outside. I am almost never without a bottle of water.
We have a house that is just under 1,400 sq. ft. and an attached 2 stall garage. Put a new HVAC unit on the house last year and our buget plan electric bill is under $100 a month. The garage has a 5,400 cfm Mastercool on it and a 10K window a/c unit. Swamper is working great right now and will get too cold. When the monsoons start I'll switch on the window a/c unit.
House is insulated well and so is the garage, including the door.

As others said, get up early to do the walk, yard work, etc. Take a nap in the afternoon and enjoy the outdoors late in the day again.
If you have a choice of where to relocate choose a higher elevation where you might get a touch of snow in the winter.

Congratulations! Wow, that is a big garage. We built a 50 x 20 and are swimming in space. What are you going to do with all that width? Fill it, I know. Can you say mancave?
