I have used vodka in an ice maker for several yrs...worked great no long flush required.

Evergreen airlines was in the Kamchatka area of Russia in the winter & they were out of de-ice fluid. A pickup truck full of vodka was dumped in the de-ice machine and after spraying the wings of the 747 departed for Anchorage.

I actually did use vodka/water Mix to winterize mine (really). We'll see what happens.....
