1986 Coachmen Renovation

Just joined the forum and wanted to share my project. It's a 1986 29' coachmen coventry that I bought last year and I'm doing a total remodel on it. Yes I would like a brand new fifth wheel but for what they cost no thanks! And honestly I wasn't super impressed with the quality for how much they cost. That's why I decided to go the renovation route. This is what it looked like when I picked it up from my grandparents it's been in the family for as long as I can remember so I at least no the history of it.

Interior
Jacknife sofa in the rear

Dinette across from kitchen

I then started taking most everything out

Next I started on the exterior. Sanded the interior thing tack clothed it and started painting.

Then it was time for the big spray. I had to pull all the windows out.

Next on the list was to re-install the freshly painted windows with new tape seal behind them. Also the new graphics and led lights were installed.

Exterior shot

Then it was time to drop some coin on new tires

All mounted up

Threw the spare on the back

And that's how the exterior stayed for the rest of 2014

Now it was time to starting putting the interior back together.
Had to fix a little water damage due to the age of the sealant behind the windows. But after re installing the windows that fixed the leak.

I then removed the coat closet and started making the new tv/ fireplace cabinet. Laminate floor was installed at this time. Along with mooving the couch across from the kitchen this change gives so much more room.

Control panel was also relocated from above the door to this new cabinet. I also installed the fireplace.

It was now time to repanel the walls and I found a product that looks identical to the paneling used in the new fifth wheels sold at lowes.

No way do I like brown cabinets so I decided to give it a really modern look with black cabinets. The old cabinets are fastened in so well that I decided to make them fancier by putting a face frame on them. I then made my own crown molding and went with the same black.

Close up of the paneling and the black cabinets and crown.

I'm also making new doors for all the cabinets as the old ones were hallow and overall the feel was really cheap. I'm also using all brushed hinges and handles.

It was now time to build the new u shaped dinette in the rear of the coach. At this time my new faux wood blinds came in.

I also installed the rock veneer around my fireplace.

Then it was time to pick out some fabric.

And reupholster the sofa

More work took place on the dinette.

I also bought led lights for every light in the interior.

smcox1,
Nice job, You now have a unit to be proud of, and that no one else has anything like it.

Thanks guys I appreciate it! It's still not done but I hope to get it done by the end of June.
My list of what needs to be done.
-Build all the doors in the kitchen
-install the sink
-install the rock veneer backsplash in the kitchen
-remodel bathroom
-install shower
-tile surround in shower
-install laminate in bathroom
-install new toilet
-rebuild vanity cabinet
-install new countertop on vanity
-install vessel sink
-new carpet in bedroom
-new wall paneling
-rebuild top cabinet in bedroom
-install twin beds that fold up with storage underneath
-install tv in bedroom
And I'm sure a lot of little things I can't think of right now.

With the price of the trailer I will be in it around 5 grand and I basically end up with a brand new FW.

It's real rock veneer like you would use on your house fireplace. No plastic here.

I thought I did pretty well with my renovation, but I'm humbled. Very, very well done.
