1990 Safari Sagittarius 34 footer

Hi I'm Frank new to the site. I bought a Safari Sagittarius 34ft motorcoach for $800.00 + $50.00 for complete cover, 40 x 40 tarp and a lot of other stuff. Needs lots of work. The person I bought it from said they put gas in it and drove it for about for days then parked it where it is now. Said it drove fine, now it got broke into and I have to replace the whole column cause the busted out the ignition. So I can't start it. Can someone tell me what the top of the diesel engine looks like.

Sure that's not a 1970 Sagittarius?
Looks like that would be a Detroit 8.2 fuel pincher if it's a diesel. Also known as Hate point two. Run Forrest, RUN. That's the engine Detroit wants to forget. Could be fine if you never go far or fast, but not something I'd buy not running. Removing the ignition could be a trick to sell it easier. I can't believe you can't start it by hotwiring the ignition, I doubt there's a computer, certainly no security or chip key.

The 8.2 is a V8 so will look similar to a gas engine, but won't have spark plugs or spark plug wires. The valve cover should say "fuel pincher".

I don't know how to hot wire it. I tried to put up pictures but says they can't load. I'll login to my home computer and see if I can load them from there.

Sometimes you just have to know when to say NO. The ignition in my 95 Safari is the same as an early 70's GM pickup, which is electrically the same as every car, pickup, lawnmower or boat from 1950 until they added security in the 90's. Battery, accessories, ignition, and start. Connect appropriately to start and run, radio is usually optional.

Google can have a mind of its own . However, use it to find one of the Safari clubs that might have the information you need.

Serengeti yes if it is 37 ft or more does that mean I have to get a CDL to drive it. Or pull my 2012 Subaru Forester behind it. Yes I know cause it's a automatic I have to have it on a flat bed.
