1993 Pace Arrow DP 8.3 Cummins, Allison 6 speed

WARNING, this will be a pic heavy thread,, i like pictures ! I just got it last month, it has 40k miles runs perfect, 372 hrs on the gen set and have been working on the list of maintenance items. This is my first RV ever and i am as green as the grass on the ground when it comes to these things but i am a pretty handy shade tree mechanic and can fix most things myself as i was taught well by my late father who could fix anything. The first thing i did was wax the exterior to take off the oxidation haze. It looks brand new on the exterior now. It needs 4 rear tires as they are not safe and i plan on servicing the engine and 7.5kw Onan diesel generator and a 50 amp service. The inside is in mint condition and just needs a dusting and floor sweep. I have a fused lower back and a bum right knee so i am chugging along daily with my repairs and doing what my aches allow me lol ! I love this forum and its nice to see we have our own section and are not lumped with the rigs costing a fortune. I paid $13,500 for her. What do you think guys, was it a good deal or did i pay to much,,, one friend told me i stole it. I will post pics of all my repairs and the status of her. Still haven't named the rig yet, any suggestions ,,, and thanks to all of you who are here to help others HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIENDS

More pics

More pictures of my new rig. I am the 3rd owner, 1st owner stored it inside a climate controlled garage from 1993-2013 and put 38k miles on it,,when 2nd owner bought it he put 2k miles on it in the 3 yrs he had her and he is a diesel mechanic by trade so i knew he maintained it also. I was lucky to get a big orange binder with paperwork on every system in the rig. It has become indispensable to me in learning about this rig and how these systems work. Today i will re-seal the roof to wall seam with Dicor No Sag after carefully removing the old. Pics to be posted, stay tuned,, same Bat time , same Bat channel.

Thank you , i was hoping she was a good find. Are these rare units since they were only made for a year and a half in 93-94. I Had to look in my orange binder,,, My generator is a DKD,,, is that good,,, i knew it was a diesel but never looked at the model type. Were the DKD's known to be a good strong reliable unit ? Is there anything i need to watch out for on this gen set ??? Thanks

I have never seen a 93 Pace with a 8.3C and Allison MD 3060 on the road.
Your Genny is a DKDFJ built by Onan. It's powered by a D-950 inline 3 cylinder Kubota Engine- 28 hp, The Generator is a Brushless magnetic field type and never needs service. Except the rear case bearing every thousand hours or so- Easy to get to.Service parts like filters and Air Filters are available at Napa-O'Reilly - ect. My DKD has over 14,000 hours of use and still runs great. Engine service is required every 100 to 150 hrs or so. They are a little noisier than the newer HDK quiet genny's but no big deal.
Here's mine.

Never seen one on the road,, i'm hearing that more and more,, i guess they are a rare beast,, no wonder the other guy trying to buy it,,,, tried to screw me out of the deal i had already made with the owner,,, he offered him 2k more than i did , but the owner kept his word to me. Chuck that engine is pristine, holy smokes you could eat off of it.Wish mine was on a pull out too,, that is one sweet gen set dude. I see NHRA,, i used to race Corvettes,, do you still race ? That is good news, i'm glad this gen set is what you say it is, and mine has only 372 hrs on it,, . I'm going to change the oil and filter, new air filter,,,,Question, how do i put a new fuel filter on, what is the proper way ? Do i fill it with diesel and install. Thanks

Thanks Ray, i'm not wealthy so after dropping the cash on her i figured waxing was a good cheap first step to restoring the exterior to its original shine. I used 2 bottles of Meguiars Cleaner Wax,and my cheap Harbour Freight 10" orbital ,, been using this wax for 40+yrs,, nothing cleans and waxes better than this stuff. It takes off road tar where many others wouldn't and would just smear it all over the damn place. People used to ask me what i used on my Grand National and Corvettes in the old days and through out my life and were shocked that i used such a inexpensive simple product with the results it provides. It made my GN look like a black mirror,,,Good stuff,,, and no i don't have a vested interest in Meguiars lol

Thanks for the info on what you used! I'll try the same! It must've been a lot of work... I dread doing ours!

Yup, she's a looker for sure Blitzkrieg. Do you think the wood floor is original? Know any history on that part of her. Does she have slide?

Great looking unit, it looks like Blitz is not going to let anything bad happen to it.

Thank you,i need to buy 4 rear tires but other than that i see no other large expenditures before i can hit the road. And from what i have learned the 6 speed became available in 1993.

No problem brother,,Its not that bad with the 10" orbital,, it took me two days taking my sweet time, a section at a time.Wax a little have a beer ,, repeat,, It's not that bad,,, get several (4)wax bonnets(cotton) and a few (2)buffer bonnets (fluffy type). Use old towels under the orbital to take off the majority of the wax and the buffer/shine bonnets afterwards to clean it up and shine it,, piece of cake ,, even for an old guy like me. This thing is a whole lot bigger than a Corvette !

Thanks man,, the floor is vinyl believe it or not the 2nd owner installed.I thought it was wood too until i reached down and touched it. It is nearly indestructible, which is good because Blitz has some sharp toe nails. There are no slides and i like that ,, the simpler the better for me as i wouldn't want to deal with a broken slide ,, not with my bad back. As for the history on it,, i am the 3rd owner ,, 1st owner stored it inside from 1993-2013,, 2nd owner was a diesel mechanic ,40k miles ,,just broken in , dumb luck huh !!
