You either have too much oil in the engine, there is a problem with venting, or you are getting ready for an overhaul.

Thanks

Hopefully no overhaul with less than 85K miles.

Hopefully not! Look for the other issues first. Reality though,
85K miles but 26 years.
Has it ever been overheated?
How many times has it been started and not driven? Short cycled.
Idle hours? Gallons of fuel consumed.
And sometimes just bad luck.

Start with the simplest answer-- the crankcase is overfilled with oil and/or there is oil dilution with diesel which raised the oil level.

Where does the oil read on the dipstick (vs where it normally is)?

Is the viscosity OK (no diesel dilution)? No diesel fuel smell to the oil?

And if there is Deisel dilution, why?
Bad injectors, excessive short cycling, bad pistons/rings?
Let's really hope accidentally overfilled or some other crank vent problem.
