2002 Allegro Tiffin Bus

Looking for contacts who own an older Allegro Bus. We just bought a 2002 and it has two things I am concerned about. 1) Replacing the cracked windshield and 2) an exterior crack under the bedroom slide.

Newby would like to discuss these issues with experienced owners.

Thanks for any information.

Cracked windshield

We have a 1999 bus that required replacement of both both halves of the windshield. Due to the age of the gaskets the installer strongly suggested the gasket be replaced at the same time. Both pieces of glass had dings were replaced due to the possibility of the passenger windshield cracking as a result of the change in pressure caused by the driver side being replaced. Insurance agreed. Driving across Canada to get back to Alaska appears to be almost impossible for me with an RV and not get a windshield cracked, I find myself working on having another drivers side glass replaced next week.

Should you have further inquiries feel free to ask.

Got an estimate for replacing the driver's side windshield. The previous owner said it "popped" loose and he had it replaced. Then it cracked in 3 places all the way from bottom to top. Do you think I should have a frame alignment done before replacing the windshield?

Windshield replacement

My insurance company has a national RV glass agent they pass a replacement clam to manage the process. In my case State Farm used a company out of Oregon to locate the glass, seals, and an installer. I am presently in Arizona and am in the mist of the process again, (darn trucks slinging rocks). One of the things I confirmed was that State Farm holds the agency responsible to get the repairs done correctly and do any follow up if things go wrong.

If the RV drives well and the tires do not show uneven wear I would have an RV glass installer look at he windshield and the area around the windshield. My 1999 Allegro bus is a fiberglass end cap. I noticed on the last install once both glass pieces were removed there appeared to be a bit of flex in the fiberglass.

I carry full coverage plus glass breakage on my rig and just call my agent if I have glass problems and will be in one location to get the repairs complete.

Thanks for the information. My 2002 bus has the same end cap. I talked with 1st class RV in AL this week with a guy that has over 20 years experience with RV windshields. I think the previous owner had a glass to fiberglass contact (pinched gasket) that caused the WS to crack. We are taking the RV to 1st Class RV for the repair and gasket. Thanks again!
