6500 Onan generator problems

1984 Holiday Rambler with gas onan. It was running fine then stopped running just cranking. Put a new starter cylinold on it. Then it stopped cranking but the fuel pump started running all time. Found a loose wire on the ign. Fuse fixed it and no change. What am I missing on this thing ? Thanks for any help I can get on this thing. Ronnnie

As to cranking actually grind down your ground points. Make them quite shiny and new, they do not use a conventional starter. The battery must have a good charge and a solid ground..half way does not get it.

I'm on a cell phone so cut and paste is not a option. I did bring mine back to life and posted a thread on it here for a reference.

There built like a tank and very simple to repair once you get a simple understanding of them.

Now as to this starter solenoid do you have a part number for it? Onan solenoids are very unique

I should add even though your fuel pump runs indicating a ground that may not be enough ground to turn the engine. If that sounds odd all I will say that onan you have is unlike anything you probably have ran into before in terms of starter.

I am also assuming this gen is 6.5 NH series

Posting a full model number will benefit you greatly.
