70s Winnebago Dash Lights

Hey all,
I have a 71 Winnebago Chieftain and am looking for suggestions on replacement bulbs for the dash/gauge lights or full replacements.

I'd like to find something led if possible.

Pretty sure they are 194 or 195? I never can remember.. you got to pull instrument panel and check the back.. number will be on bulbs.. then hit favorite on line store and order what you need.. or like.. far too many choices for me to pick out for you.. you can get fancy colors .. ect... you must be very careful. Because with that age.. the plastic parts will be very brittle.. so have super glue handy.. don't over tighten anything.. just barley tight enough to hold.. now depending on chassis.. make.. I mean maker of eng.. the rv company used their dash clusters.. so if you have Chevy eng.. then it's same one used in Chevy pickups of that yr.. if dodge.. then dodge truck.. ECT. Their are some great replacement dashs.. complete. If you got 600 to sky.. and put completely new dash.. with all the bells.. so Google your yr, make for pickups and you can just drop in a new dash.. I don't like to use names .. so you can choose from 15 bucks to $$$$ to suit your fancy..
Now if you are saving money.. use a salvage yards and look for tucks and vans.. with your make and yr.. and completely interchangeable.
Good luck and keep us posted

I remember almost all dash bulbs from that era are 194. There are a bunch of LED replacements

I don't think all bulbs are dimmable so you may want to double check on what you choose is dimmable.
you can buy a box of stock dash bulbs for around 10 dollars last time I bought some.

It's pretty popular to replace the dash lights with colored LED in older muscle car and hot rod projects. If your chassis is GMC/Chevy then look at "kits" for older Camaros for example.
Blue is my preferred color. Some like green. The younger crowd seems to like red for some reason. You might want to check out what others have done and see what might suit you. Online pictures actually give you a fair idea of how the different colors will look in person.

I say look for a kit because I messed around with some generic LED lights and the results were not at all like I expected and didn't look good. Plus as already mentioned once, they didn't dim. If you pay a little more and get LED's meant for dash use then you will be a lot happier. Proper ones really do brighten up the cluster and gauges wonderfully.

Thanks

I haven't pulled the lights on the dash to get a number from behind, but the front clearly states it is Grimes A-6795-C

They are old aviation style lights. Posts that stick out and and the bulb has a shroud that makes them directional.

These are close, but missing the "-C"

I also found some bulbs that are close, but these are female and the bulbs on mine are male.

I'm up for replacing the whole works if need be, but would like to get something I can easily find bulbs for (preferably the aforementioned led).

Hope the links I gave help you help me lol

70s Winnebago Dash Lights

I would assume 194s as well they where used in damn near everything for decades. make a nice improvement on a dash. Not the same dash obviously but I had issues seeing the gauges in the dark. Swapped them out with the a 5 led 194 and it’s easy to read.
