I know this is not quite "vintage" but it is awful close.

Here are a few pictures...

Rotten wood in the back...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...y/DSCN0629.jpg

May as well take the whole thing apart and see how bad it really is...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...y/DSCN0636.jpg

Lets put it back together with something more than silicone caulk...

Surprise, surprise. The cabover has problems too..

This was not as easy as I was hoping...

Howdy and welcome aboard

It looks like you had you're work cut out for your, but the one thing about undertaking a project like you did is the feeling once the project is done that you did it yourself better than the original manufacturer.

Hopefully your repairs are just about finished and you now can enjoy the fruits of your labor. Keep us posted with the project.

Yep Welcome to the forum and it's in the classic enough as the cap is 89's I think so welcome!!
That looked like my bathroom and The back of the coach.I agree with Joe-K, You will have the enjoyment of your friends as they see the repairs and knowing that you did it yourself!! I think thats the trade off! In a lot of ways, it will be better than when original and that is something to be proud of. Congrats and have a good one, Capt. Dan

Welcome ontuy to irv2.
You have quite a project going there the new work looks top notch better than MFG.
Will keep it as a fix topic as you progress the water damage is something others getting into can see with some work can really turn out well and not get discouraged.
Enjoy the forums and welcome again.

Good Luck with your Rehab! Some of those pictures are a bit like Deja Vue. If you have any questions, someone here in the Vintage Forums most likely has the answer. We've "been there, done that" or are in the process of doing it! The nice thing is that it can be rebuilt and you will most likely have a better built Rv than what you could buy new.

I recently saw an RV that looked just like the exterior of yours going down the road... looked like new. Also saw a much newer one... whith sides that were popping loose!!

Thanks for the encouraging words!

When we last left our saga we were looking at the cab over bed area. We also had to address an area in the ceiling around the AC. Once again...take out the bad but in the good and cover with new paneling.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...DSCN0695-1.jpg

Also put in new flooring. Had 19 year old pink carpeting. That has to go! Used the 12" vinyl tiles. Works well. here is the teenager helping...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...y/DSCN0699.jpg

While this project will probably have no real "end" to it. We are finally at the point where we can use it now. New paint, new carpet and seats up front, redid the dinette cushions, new valances and drapes, new countertop and cooktop. It has been a busy two months since we started but here is the almost finished work...

If anyone has any questions about the process let me know. Please keep in mind that I am not a carpenter, electrician, plumber or automotive mechanic. I am just a guy who doesn't like to spend a lot of money on toys and likes to try to make things a little better. If I had to do some of these projects over again (please stop me before I try!) I would have done some things differently and possible better. It has certainly been a great learning experience for me and hopefully will now be some fun for the whole family.

Great job. I'm the same way. I like too keep my things nice and I seem to do most of the work myself. I learn as I go most of the time.

Hey, now you've got that "new car small".

Happy camping and RV'ing.

You are truly an inspiration to us as we begin our "labor of love" on our recently purchased 1979 Mallard with the 460 Ford. Please forgive us if we pick your brain a few times.
