Adjusting the slide-out
Greetings forum lurkers:
Just spent an hour and a quarter waiting on tech support at Fleetwood to ask them which slide-out model # they put in my '97 Holiday Rambler Endeavor - only to hear the guy say that they didn't build them back then and their records don't go back that far.
Have owned this rig for about 7 months, never had it out yet but planning to this week later. Have cured most of the ills that it had including replacing carpet with vinyl planking (a HUGE upgrade).
The kitchen/couch slide out works ok but seems to want to stick a bit, the front side is lower than the rear by 3/4" and so the outside gap at the top on the forward side is much smaller than at the bottom. I noticed a bit of water inside the coach during a rainstorm as we pulled away and I'm thinking it's the seals not being set properly due to the front of the slideout sagging.
There's no way to adjust the slideout that I can see, I've got PowerGear's pdf with the various models and how to adjust them - my model doesn't look precisely like any of them. The drive bars are welded to the angle iron on the bottom of the slideout so no adjustment there. There are no slots on the mounting where the drive gears are. The only thing I can find inside the slideout are the support rollers on the inside edge, which support the floor of the slideout along the floor of the house. Surely these aren't where height is adjusted...
The Fleetwood rep swore it wasn't a PowerGear unit because it doesn't have the brake lever on the front of the motor, said he'd been in the job for 34 years...
Can anyone tell me anything about these and how I might adjust?
Thanks to all-
Mike
