Aluminum for bottom of camper

Hi all! I'm the proud new owner of a 1972 Scamper that I am mostly gutting and re-doing. I am new to RVing, new to campers and in WAY over my head. So I'm happy to find this forum and hopefully won't get myself kicked out by asking too many newbie questions.

Right now I am on the search for super thin sheet aluminum for the bottom of the camper. I pulled out the black water tank (I'll be replacing the bathroom with a compost toilet and portable sink), which means there's a big hole in the floor. Rather than patching, I'd like to just replace it all. I need a piece of aluminum about 5'x8'.

I don't need something as fancy as what is sold for Airstreams, because I think it just serves to keep water, etc. off the wood subfloor. (Plus I was hoping to find something cheaper.) So- any ideas where I can find such a thing?

From your description Im really not sure what your structural needs are. Does the sheeting your need span some other structural support? Anyway, a local sheet metal fabrication shop should have what you need. They can shear whatever thickness you require. All the best!!

I have no idea where you are but around here there is at least one place that makes and sells metal roofing. Wholesale and retail. Mostly steel but they also so aluminum gutters and such.
Some time ago the local dirt track racers started hitting them up for aluminum sheets to do race car stuff with. Not only were they amenable, they ran with it. It even mentions on their website that is 99% about roofing that they sell race car "panels". Around here you can't buy such sheets of aluminum cheaper than from them. Maybe there is such a place around you?

I was going to suggest the same, a roofing manufacturer.
You can of course order it online, but the shipping is ridiculous for the small amount you need, so a local supplier would be the best option.
