awning accident

To make a long story short a stop sign got in the way of my large awning and detached the left side brace. I have the brace and it is intact. My question is am i going to need a complete new awning or can the brace be repaired and reused. I was told by an rv guy that i would need a new awning. Just want to verify so i dont get ripped. Thanks

You can buy just the hardware if that's all you need. Here is a link to the A&E hardware sets. http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/r...rdware-a-e.htm
And here is the link to the Carefree Hardware sets.
Trailer Awnings - Spirit FX Series by Carefree - PPL Motor Homes

Both are sold under a seperate part numbers so if your guy ordered a new Awning he would also have to order a new hardware set. I'd get another guy to look at the problem there's no way he can't know about this. If your Awning isn't damaged then he's looking to sell you more than you need.

If it's just the hardware, and not the roller, you can do it yourself without a lot of tools or even skill and save a bunch of labor costs. He hardware kits come with very complete instructions, at least the A&E ones, I've never done a Carefree Kit but the over the door Carefree had good install instructions.

Assuming you don't have an awning that's no longer made, you did well to check. You WERE about to be ripped off....

I'm in the process of getting ours replaced (rain storm in Fresno CA, first awning I've lost since I started RV'ing in 1957). Shop says they order the awning and it all comes together. No need to order seperate units.

One place told me you got standard arms and if you wanted the heavy duty ones like we had (we have a 21' awning) you had to order them seperate and still had to buy the standard ones and throw them away.

OP you should be able to order just the parts you need.
