awning or ?

We have a beautiful 40 foot 1997 Beaver Patriot that we use as our full-time house. It is facing the south and we love the view. What can we do to cut down on the heat coming in the front window? Is there an awning made for this? We have the electric shade and blackout that comes down the front but it’s still too hot. We’ve tried multiple layers of bubble wrap and that works good but we like the view and don’t want it blocked all summer long. Thank you for your ideas.

You can tint the windshield, or get a see through windshield cover on the outside. It is hard to keep the view and still block the heat both.

Reminds me of a situation at my golf course. Some players like all the trees along the fairways, but bemoan the lack of grass. Greenskeeper tells us I can give you trees or I can give you grass, you can't have both. You pick.

I've tried the inside black powered plastic shade and it helps a little. I've tried the external reflective fabric windshield cover. It helps better than just the black plastic shade. Since I have plenty, my next move is to slide a piece of Reflectix under the fabric windshield cover. This creates a thicker insulation barrier and should reduce the heat. But doesn't help the view. But then most of the places we camp the view isn't out the front, but out the side or rear.

Magne Shade. Not cheap but worth every penny. There is a cheaper alternative that works just as good and if you are parked long stretches at a time it is a good alternative. Not as easy to take on and off though.

Clear carbon ceramic tint and an exterior fabric shade like the magna shade will make a huge difference.

X2 on Magne Shade, they are great to work with. We have the 94% fabric on our windshield shade and can see out fine.

Hers's a couple if you don't mind drilling holes for the fastening points (twist locks or snaps) and carry a ladder for putting them on and taking them off. Prices are very attractive but I'm not a fan of drilling and sealing all the holes (possible leak points) nor do we carry a ladder. Magne Shades are very easy to install, put on/remove from the ground, reviews, and customer service is why we went with them.

Important to note ; on the external shade , they do provide privacy during the day but with interior lights on at night they can be seen through , so your interior curtain must be used.
