Battery Question 1986 Fleetwood Prowler 29-5J

I recently purchased a 1986 Fleetwood Prowler 29-5J FW that did not have a battery. In the battery compartment there are a total of 5 wires; 2 large gauge white wires (one with black tape on the end, and one with red tape on the end), 2 small gauge red wires (both look to be connected to an inline fuse holder), and 1 small gauge black wire. I am guessing that the white wire with red tape and the 2 red wires go to the Positive battery terminal, and the white wire with black tape and the black wire go to the Negative battery terminal. Does this sound correct? Any advice from someone with a similar set-up would be greatly appreciated.

Alexsbuddy - I recently purchased a 90 Safari that had same situation - it had a lot more wires than that with most of the wires and cables black - sounds like yours are marked with tape and from how you are describing i would have to agree with your assumptions but I ended up blowing the fuses on my generator by hooking up wrong - nothing damaged just a few fuses - I ended up getting my brother to help me trace each wire back to its origin - ended up not being that hard and was glad I did because some of the ones I assumed went just opposite from what I originally thought - wasn't that hard to trace with help. Just needed a good flashlight and a little bit of help

Hope I was a little help - pabell

That would be the obvious way to hook them up in my opinion. Not sure what the small gauge wires would be for but people do some interesting things on coaches after many years of being on the road. I would try and trace the cables and wires to see where they go to first off.

Thank You

Thank you both responses. I agree....I think I should trace the wires back to their sources to be sure. I have learned from past experiences that wire color does not necessarily mean anything. I will be sure to label each wire once I finish tracing them. Thanks again.
