Best way to get rust off stove?

This is my rv stove I would like to repaint. I am wondering what is a good way to 1st prepare it for painting? There is quite a bit of rust & was wondering how to remove it?

Are you planning on painting the turquoise portion under the burners. I tied that once on a boat that had a brown stove top. I changed it to white using the hardest epoxy I could find. All was well until I lit one of the burners. It didn't blister the paint, but severely discolored it.

I would be interested in what you plan to use as a coating.
