Chevy 454 Engine fan
OK. I just got back from a weekend trip with the family and took note of a few things while driving.
I have a 90 Chevy P30 chassis with a 7.4l 454 TBI gas engine. The engine fan is turned on by a temperature controlled clutch. I was under the assumption that the fan engages when the air going through the radiator and hitting the clutch gets to 195 degrees or so. Not 100% sure about the 195 degrees. Anyway, I noticed that the fan is engaged until the engine temp gets to about 160 and then disengages. Then re engages when the engine reaches about 185. Is this how the fan clutch is supposed to work? Or do I need a new one?
