Elkhart Traveler

Hello. New here. I had ask this question on another forum and someone sent me here for a possible answer.

We bought an 1989 Elkhart Traveler RV in need of a few repairs. It has a leather rectangular panel above the door with many switches on it. We have no idea what it is or what it does. We flipped the switches walking around to see if anything came on inside or outside. Nothing we could see.

I am not sure how to put a picture on here but will try if needed.

How many switches?

Picture would be helpful

Porch Light(s)
Interior Lights
Battery Disconnect
Water Pump
Water Heater
Furnace
Roof Vents

Above are typical switch operated items that require 12V DC Voltage

Hi Sheila! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new rig! I can't believe those switches aren't labeled! I think you're gonna need to give us a close-up photo before anyone can help! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I would try setting the trailer up as if you were camping. Hook up to shore power, water and have a good battery installed. Start testing all systems and lights both indoors and out. If something doesn't work start trying the various switches.

Given their location and no labeling I would think they may be for lights.

I'm guessing you don't have an owner's manual. I found mine doing an Internet search. See if you can find one doing a google search. The manual should tell you what each switch does and will probably have a nice labeled sketch showing what each switch operates.

As noted by TCollins and Old-Biscuit, those switches are probably all dc powered (battery). When you have a working and charged set of house batteries, the switches will probably work and you can then find out what each does. Good luck.

Reporting in on the switches hang in over our door.

We finally tracked down all the wires and they were all to the lights in the living room and kitchen. Also the entryway outside light. Thanks for all the suggestions and HAPPY NEW YEARS.
