Question Found part of Propane Problem

I found that my regulater was full of black like tar and looked like burnt black paper but every thing seems to be working some what better. My hot water heater has all ways roared when it was working so I adjusted my air and it got a nice blue flame with no roaring but when I shut the outside door it starts roaring again. I have no ideal for this, has any one else ran into this ? And do I need to check all of orfices to see if they have trash in them ? Was a newbe but I'm learning fast. Thanks

Besides adjusting the air/LP mix, you likely need to measure the LP gas flow at the furnace. This service manual for Suburban furnaces specifies between 11" - 14" WC (water column) If your furnace, with the new regulator, is putting out more LP, that could be the roaring that is consuming more gas than necessary. You should check all other LP gas using appliances for proper pressure when installing a new regulator.
