GMC Lazy Daze gas mileage expectations

I,m new to the RV world and am wondering what gas mileage that my 1984 Chevy 350 powered Lazey Daze should be getting at an average 60 mph hi way speed. I also have Onan generator running problems.

The mileage won't be great, it depends on the amount of 'wall' you're pushing down the road and wind speed and direction. Most everyone lies about MPG, sort of like a fisherman bragging about their catch.

What Onan generator do you have and what is the running problem?

Thanks for responding , the Onan gen. Is an emerald 1 and does start and run briefly after a long crank. She runs rough but does put out voltage briefly before it dies. I have already replaced the control board. There are only 100hrs. On the clock.

If that's the original generator, it hasn't been run enough and could be gummed up with old gas. Unfortunately, the carb can't be rebuilt, just replaced. You might change the fuel filter and run a bottle of Sea Foam through it and see if it helps before replacing the carb.

The Emerald Plus 4000 generator in our old '93 has about 300 hours, but I have had to replace plugs a couple times. It would be running fine, but on the next restart, perhaps months later would run very rough. Replacing the plugs would cure the problem. Had to replace a relay recently, but other than that the only other problem affecting smooth operation has been spark plugs. I could never understand the plug failure. Removing the plug wire and reseating it would not cure it, only a new plug.
