Help! Broke my Onan carb
Guys,
Broke a small screw on my Onan carb and it appears it can't be ordered separately. It's the altitude adustment screw and the piece it seats in to hold the bold on. Both are FUBAR. Does anyone have any spare BGE Onan Nikki carbs laying around or have a good source? The thing worked fine until this happened I'd hate to spend $300 on one of these pieces of crap for one small part. Any of the old carbs with the bowl on the bottom and the altitude adjustment screw should work for my needs.
Thanks,

I always thought Onan was a top of the line genset. I'm quickly learning they are finicky, poorly made, and parts are like buying parts for a Porsche. How in the hell is a glorified lawnmower carb more than the Rochester 4bbl on my v8?

What model Onan is it. I may have an old complete carb you could have, I'll have to check first. It's off my Onan 7000.

The carb on it is a 146-0455 but any carb that looks similar and has the bowl on the bottom with the altitude adjustment will work. Between this and having my prop valve get stuck while replacing the rear brake lines I feel like it's been the least productive day of my life.

There are actually scads of Onans doing other things. Take the carburetor to a small engine shop and ask for help.

Sorry for the delay, I checked and my carb is totally different than yours. I wish you luck.

Thanks for checking camper kids! I tried a few small engine shops with no luck yet. I might just bite the bullet and buy a new carb. At least that way I'll have the old one for spare parts. She wasn't running great so it probably wouldn't hurt.

Try eBay. Last time I looked they had carb rebuild kits and full carb replacements.

The carbs between models are different. You can't use one from a 5.5 on a 7.0. The throat size, jetting and maybe even attachment bolt location can be different. Even the altitude adjustment can be different. Hope you can find a used one that's the right one.
