Initial purchase cost of Vintage 13' - 16' that needs total rebuild.

Hi,
I'm new here and plan on a rebuild of a vintage 5th wheel. I'll be referring here for much information in the coming months.

I've found a couple monitors and tag-a-long. All 3 need total rebuild, one is gutted already and the other 2 need it. I plan to tear down to the studs and built all new and modern.

I'm trying to determine what to offer for just the trailer and the shell. I see lots of people getting one in better condition than these for 400 and less. It just seems low to me. I had one guy tell me 2k with a smirk on his face, so i walked away.

I'm a experienced cabinet builder and I have 3k-4k as a budget for appliances, trailer metalwork, other incidentals and most of the material is already owned by me.

Thanks.!

Definitely $400 would be all I would pay. If it needs to be totally stripped down, it's a lot of work to get back to a usable condition.

I looked at a Holiday Rambler 5er a couple years ago that was a total rebuild case. It was on an aluminum frame, I ended up passing on it at $600.

I have an associate that buys trailers. Some, he gets for free. He just dragged home a 18' something that he paid 100$us for because it had new LP tanks and nice running gear.

To be very honest, old trailers that do not have documented rebuilds are just about worthless. I have several that the skin was taken off and there was almost no evidence of the supporting wood structure except the rows of nails.

Unless you do a complete and full restoration, what ever you put in will be a waste of time and money. Get to a TCT rally an talk to people.
