Jack stands rating

Hello, I would like to know what the safe ton rating for jack stands is for a 30í 1992 southwind? I need to jack up and work on the front end. I have 6 ton jack stands, but I donít want to take any chances on something this big without knowing whatís safe. Thank you

First, are those rated 6 tons for the pair, or each? Jackstands are rated both ways, and it's important to know which you've got.

Second, what is the maximum front axle weight? It should be in the owner's manual and probably on the sticker near the driver's seat where the recommended tire pressures are.

They are 6 ton each, I believe the front axle is 5500?, does that sound right?

The jack stands you have will be fine, there's no way the front of a gasser weighs close to 12,000 lbs.

What you need to do is look for a jack/lift diagram for your chassis if you're not familiar with jack points. A frame rail looks like a big heavy chunk of steel but if you jack/support it in the wrong place it is easy to bend, when it bends it could slip of the stand or jack.
