Kohler Confidant 4 RV generator
My generator would not start after it sat idle a few months.
I took it to a service dealer to fix it, plus a couple of other small issues.
When I picked up my unit I was informed that nothing was wrong with my generator and they further stated they had it running for several minutes and proceeded to show me by starting it. The unit had no response when the starter button was pushed. After several failed attempts, the service manager said something must have burned out. I was then informed they do not service generators. I took the unit home and put a new fuse in the circuit which promptly burned out as soon as I pressed the starter button.
I then took it to another dealer that reluctantly agreed to work on it. After several days and hours of labor, he declared he didn't know what was wrong, and declined to help me further.
Again, I took the unit home and attempted to start the generator. This time, when I put a new fuse in, it did not burn out. However, when I attempted to screw the cap on the fuse holder, a loud noise emitted from the unit, but the fuse remained good.
It seems like each service dealer messed it up in a different way.
I am at my wits end. I have looked at a ONAN 4KW unit, but according to the specs, the ONAN is about 1/2 inch too tall to fit in the door opening. The door opening in my motor home, for the generator, is approximately 31.5 inches Wide X 14 inches tall
Any ideas or suggestions?
Can the Onan unit somehow fit?. It is 30 L X 19.7 W X 14.4 H.
Does anyone have a good Kohler Confidant 4 they will part with?
Your input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
