Kohler Gen 4GM21 Help

This is the Gen I have just recently bought this RV it has been sitting for yrs. When plugged in from home power AC ,lights work .I didn't get a chance to rest the fridge but I think it only works on LPG. ok back to the Gen it had 3 wires on the positive side of the battery and 2 wires hooked to the neg side of the battery. I bought a New battery cause the one it came with was junk. Problem is im not sure which wires go where. I do know the large BLK goes to neg. The large white goes to positive. There are 2 red wires I connected to pos the remaining wire is green I tried to connect it to neg but I got a big spark. And when I just connect black and white wires leaving all others disconnected the part behind the controller box gets hot. Im confused. Hopefully someone here on this forum can help.

Cant help w that gen specifically but...
Green usually ground.
I'd start checking w a meter.
Try to find where the green goes to...continuity w ground?

Does the gen have an alternator?
If so how is it wired to charge the batty?
Best to not stack many connections on terminals. On boats ABYC says no more than 3. A buss bar connected to Pos and/ or Neg would leave only one Neg & one Pos connection w little room for error if properly color coded.
