ID:	343455 Scott explaining what’s happening to Glenda. I’m looking in through the window of the office/guest bedroom. If you look to the left you will see a pair of vice grips hanging on the upper frame of the 1’ X 4’ bathroom window that is in my shop bathroom.

The red iron is for the exterior framing. The metal studs are for the interior framing. Together they give us an 8” wall thickness for the south side of the apartment.

We got quite a bit done with Scott and SIL’s help. Now we’re back to just the two of us and we’re going to concentrate on getting roof panels installed. We’ve got a system and it’s just work. We can do work, just not like we used to do.

The door opens into the barn. My shop restroom is right by the door so I can come in for a rest when needed. The apartment starts at my bathroom.

This morning it’s off to the dermatologist to have a Moh’s treatment on a spot under the mustache. It’s preventive measure and I hope it doesn’t end up needing surgery of the plastic kind for aesthetic concerns. If they have to do that they can pick a spot anywhere on my back for matching material.

Today is supposed to get to 98º with a feel like much hotter. A front is supposed to come through tonight and we’ll have fall weather for at least a week or more. Yesterday the feel likes were in the high nineties and it was tough. Between the heat, two strange dogs showing up, and three turkeys chorusing with clicks it was an interesting day.

It was hilarious watching the cats stalking the turkeys. The big surprise was that wannabe a house cat Rachel is the one that attacked the turkeys. The one she singled out for brunch flew away. The other two were escorted out to the highway by Heidi and Barnie. I suspect Rachel’s courage and expertise comes from harvesting dozens of locusts in the last couple of months.

First dog was an old black lab. It skaddelled after a rebuke. The second was about three months old and thought “get out a here” meant “come here for hugs and kisses.”

Life in the country this close to the city.

Hope your procedure went well.

It went fine Ron. They did one scrape and it came back clear. Then the fun part started.

"You like mustaches?" the doc asked.

"My wife can't remember me without one and I have a 39 yr old granddaughter who has never seen me without it. My only concern is I don't want you getting any patch material off of my backside. We don't want to go there. I still love kissing my wife."

He pulled up skin from below the spot and then tied it in with stitches. If I pulled my boot laces as tight as he did the stitches I would lose my feet. I get the stitches taken out next Monday.

It started off while the nurse was prepping the spot with an electric razor. I said, "here's the doc."

"How did you know?" he asked from behind me.

"I heard the ka-ching ka-ching" was my reply.

A front is blowing through this morning, cool dry air. I've got a lot to do without having to do the roof panels in the wind today. Yesterday I crashed and slept after getting home. It's kind of kewel that docs now treat us like adults and send us home with instructions to clean and cover with vaseline the wound and never mention any kind of pain meds. Face is swollen but today I can do work.

I still feel this is all about an abundance of caution but I can deal with that at this age.

Good to hear your procedure went well. Melissa is about to have the same thing done on the tip of her nose. She's really worried about it. I've been supportive, but it doesn't help, because out of all the things I've had happen to me, skin cancer grafts isn't one of them so Im not qualified to understand her fears.

Harvey, on your page you mentioned & I'll agree with nothing like living in the country.
Yesterday while Melissa was riding her bicycle through the neighborhood she came across a 3 day old calf in the street. Her being from Chicago, is totally lost at what to do with it. So my nap gets inturupted by a phone call. "What do I do with a baby calf?"

My reply, "Didn't you ever watch the movie "City Slickers"????" Do what they did! Yell Heyaah at it, wave your hands slowly like you're trying to fly, and walk behind it, a little off to its side and herd it back to it's Momma. I'm sure she's looking for it."

She and another lady she knows figure out it belongs in the yard / pasture up the street and herd it up that way. Momma Cow was calling it, so that's how they figured out where it belonged.
3 strand fences work good for grown cows, but not worth a darn for calves.

About recovered from my little 36 hour round trip to Indiana my neighbor and I did this weekend. Left Friday Morning and was back home 36 hours later Saturday afternoon.
We drove straight through to some little Burb om the North East edge of Layayette Indiana from NOrth Central Texas. 32 Hours of driving, and 4 hours of fuel stops, bathroom stops, fast food and loading up the furniture my neighbor bought on EBay!.

Northern cold front blew through last night.. Thanks Gordon. Send a few more!
It was 100 degrees here yesterday! Suppposed to be a chilling 80 today! YEA!!!!!

We’re working at a schedule to be ready for the foam installation on the barn week after next. We have 13 panels to install on the north side left plus one panel on the south side. The knee wall stepping down from the barn to the apartment will happen after the barn roof is done. There is some rain predicted for middle of the week but we have work that can be done between showers once we have the roof done on the barn.

The north side panels are 11 ft shorter and much easier to handle. Plus they only have five purlins to attach the clips vs the south side’s 7.

The foam installation of the barn portion is a milestone.

Our 30 yr old neighbor has never in all of her years met anyone like us. She sent us this pic she took yesterday afternoon.

If you look close you can see Glenda waving from her perch on the scissor lift at the ridge of the roof. I'm crimping and attaching clips at the eave about to head up the panel just screwing around on the way up.

ID:	344232 Barnie the calico barn cat likes to get on top of the little house. We haven’t figured out yet how she does it.

Twice now she’s got up on top of the coach. The only thing we can figure out is she can use the coach ladder on the back. I wouldn’t put it past her. This time she got off using the windshield and passenger mirror, wasn’t pretty.

Good morning Ron. Thinking of you still makes me smile, you’re an inspiration.

ID:	344233 I think we need to call this thing a granddad do thingy. I was looking at the process of the east soffit and rake along with installing the step down wall to the roof of the apartment. I needed something for a work platform.
