Hi Everyone
Been working on Winne and it has been running great but last night while she was sitting at idle the engine (chevy 454) shut off.
When i checked on it i found that the power at the dash was out and the ign was also dead. The head lights tail lights all work but no power anywhere else.
I have checked the fuse's under the dash and also under hood but have not found any that are blown. Also checked all the fues and breakers that are left in the motorhome. It has been redone inside with most of the electrics removed from the previous owner.
I am trying to get her rebuilt to tow are jeep around to the 4x4 parks the we take trips to.
Any help with what to check would be great as i have went over just about everything in the RV and am stumped
Thanks brian

Since you have power to the head/tail lights it looks like the power from the battery is reaching the fuse block.
You will need to probe both sides of every fuse with your multi meter or a probe light....
When others get into the wiring and butcher it up thats makes things "tuff" on you.

I would suspect the ignition switch itself. Be sure to keep us posted on your progress. Dan

OK tracked down what i thought was the problem and got it fixed. And had everything running fine went to put it back together and of course it does not crank but has power to everything again.
Looking around i found a light brown with a white stripe wire that runs from the ing switch that looks like it was pulled from the back of the fuse box but i am not sure if it has anything ot do with it

Netrual saftey switch wire is purple.Check that and the switch as well. The starter relay is the horn relay, check that.Does the horn work?.Turn on the key switch and cross the starter.Does the starter turn over and will it start then?.You need to narrow it down to what section of the wiring harness is not working.

Okay, this might sound dumb but that happened to me, too, right before Hurricane Wilma came into town. I FREAKED OUT! Guess what? I had to hold the gear shifter to the left towards the park position and lift it so that the thing would start! That's all it was! By the way, I am eager to tow a 29' Coachman trailer that weighs 7,200 pounds with my Elandon 26' with the 454 Chevy Block engine in it. I will not be going over any mountains with it. Do you think this will be safe? Thank you. D.
