Lockset/doorknob for old Starcraft

We bought a friend a 1976 Starcraft Starmaster 8. She has terrible hands and the door lock is worn such that you must be able to push and turn it just right to get it to open. She simply can't do it. So, we looked for a replacement. Dang!! Minimum $300. We only paid $400 for the trailer. It is a Bargman L-200. We've tried Lowe's and an off brand for mobile homes that said it would fit. It doesn't. The door is too thin and modifying the door to fit the lock would destroy the structure. We are open to other ideas. We even called Colaw and had no luck.

Have you taken the lockset to a locksmith to see if it can be repaired? You might also check with some of these salvage yards, they might have what your need:

There are also some new locks out there that are designed to retrofit into a Bargman size cut out with minimal modification. They typically cost under $100

We bought one for $70 and it doesn't fit. So, still hunting.
