LP solenoid sticking

Has anyone ever lubed a lp solenoid ?

My Dometic fridge is 11 years old. With the check light on I first replaced the circuit board, but I still had the problem. Using the plastic handle of a normal size screw driver I firmly rapped on the top and sides of the solenoid. Which caused it to open and the burner to light. If you have done this please tell me and what you lubed it with.

Note: Having taken the same action with my Hydro-Hot several years ago, it has never had an issue. An old farmer gave me the idea. I didn't lube the Hydro-Hot so maybe I won't lube the lp valve?

What do you think?

Wouldn't you have to disconnect the propane supply so you can squirt something in like WD40. That is what I would do. But tapping on it sounds like an easier solution.

Solenoid action is separated from the inside of gas valve.....

Solenoid when energized become magnetized and lift the rod which opens the valve

Gas valves are not serviceable and should be replaced
Solenoid....measure resistance. S/B 40-48 ohms

What is the Model of that Dometic?

I turned the fridge off and waited 2 hours to see what would happen when the fridge was turned back on. It tried to ignite with a PUFF.

I WILL HAVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICE THE UNIT. UNTIL THEN THE FRIDGE WILL REMAIN OFF.

THANK YOU "Old-Biscuit" for your comment "Gas valves are not serviceable and should be replaced"
