These mini splits seem to be gaining traction with RV'ers. I was just watching a youtube video last night where somebody did this on a Class C.

My initial thought was to hang it from the rear of the rv, There are many utube videos of various installs. I needed the indoor unit up front as I have no dash air. It would have been a long run of the lines. If this one is not enough, I will mount another one on the rear, I do live in AZ. I did lose a bunch of storage but I had a bunch of unnecessary crap as well. I have beefed up my rear bumper with a mount for my honda 2000. This will allow me to run it while on the road to power the ac. I have a 4000 watt onan but it is loud. The part that is the most impressive is the sound level, it is so quiet compared to the rooftop unit. And it puts out cold air, really cold air that the old unit never did. I turned it on yesterday when it was 80 outside and up to 90 inside, it cooled down to 72 in 30 min. In turbo mode it uses 1090 watts and on low after temp is reached it uses 325 watts. You could run 3 of these units with a 4000 watt generator. I installed everything myself including the final AC line evacuation, it was simple.

On another note I was just reading a discussion on insurance, someone was happy about paying $4k a year. Another great reason to drive an old [Mod Edit]. I pay $125/year. Rant over.....well.... 1 more.... don't be a [Mod Edit], wear it or not, this is America!

Yep. I pay $499 yearly for full coverage and that alone is enough to keep me from upgrading too far up the ladder.

I’m scheduled for my first Covid shot March 16. Looking forward to getting some immunity!

Small update, I made a new bumper for my Kayaks and a cage for my honda 2000. I ran a power cord to the shore cable so that I can run the AC . The 2000 is soo much quieter going down the road than my onan. I just need to relocate the license plate a little. The unit is working great.

Give a thief 20 seconds with a bolt cutter or battery saw and that Honda has a new home.

You need something much more robust than that bike cable and tiny lock to keep your generator in its cage.

Very well done.

I do agree you may want to more robustly secure the generator against theft. However, no matter what you do, a battery operated cut saw or grinder can gain access in just a few moments. A HVAC tech friend of mine, who routinely needs access to roofs of commercial buildings and has tired of waiting for the building supers, calls his grinder his universal key.

Now if that was me, I would just put a metal floor under the generator and bolt it down using the same bolts that hold the rubber feet on. Thieves would have to have the correct wrenches to get it off, and that's highly unlikely.

If we could a company to make a roof/horizontal unit. OR
Actually to redesign a unit to work more like mini split and stay on roof with 2nd quite fan motor ,so the high seer unit can do it's own thing. Maybe one condenser unit and two small evaps over ducts hole.
