"New" '79 Southwind

We just purchased our first MH, a 29' 1979 Fleetwood Southwind. She's in fantastic shape for her age and she runs down the road great.

What's the back-story on a rig of this vintage being in such pristine shape?

That’s a nice looking rig. What’s the chassis and engine? Do you have any big plans for it? BTW that’s a fantastic looking rig at any age. Age has nothing to do with it, there are owners out there that can turn an RV into junk within a matter of months (such as my RV’s previous owner).

I guess the original owners had it for 34 years and always kept it under covered storage. The next owner had it for 3 and barely used it.

It's got the Chevy chassis. 454/TH400 with 39,000 original miles. I think we'll update the interior a bit, paint, new curtains, etc. It had one of the a/c units just replaced and a new fridge when I bought it. I've already replaced all the original overhead halogen lights with LED lights that are drawing about 1/10th the power. Switched the old coach battery out for two Trojan T-105 6V batteries wired in series. The pressure tank had a crack and has been replaced, along with the kitchen faucet.
