No throttle response.
!998 Monaco Executive that we are updating. We are trying to solve the lack of power that occurs. We had the box in the rear on the engine rebuilt by King Control. I have found a throttle position sensor to order. A curious occurance is that the dash gauges jump just before losing power and calling the tow truck. She is sitting at the house and the rpm gauge flickers with engine running and in neutral.. Anyone with experience or direction? Also need a manual for this coach....can't get it from Monaco. Thank you for the response.

Sounds like a bad connection in the engine controls circuitry. You could try unplugging every connection you find, spray it with contact cleaner, and re-assemble.
It would help if we knew what engine make, model, you're talking about. King Control is most likely your cruise control.

Cummins 8.3
Thank you for the response. We have cleaned the connection to the TPS and the cruise. Our Cummins 8.3 is in great shape. Any thoughts on the rpm tach and other gauges flickering? So far, I can not find a shop or mechanic that wants to take this on. Maybe we will have to sell as is for the value of the engine, generator, and appliances.

Since you had the cruise control worked on, have you checked the engine speed sensor? That could cause the tach errors and the lack of power. What kind of shop refused help? I'd contact a Cummins shop.

Good Idea
We have ordered a TPS. Now we will check the engine sensor. Keep those ideas coming.

Your tachometer problem is probably a loose ground wire on the gage itself. Loose ground wire is a known issue on many Monaco coaches. Simple to fix, check ground wire on back of tachometer. Make sure it's not loose or corroded. Clean the connection and retighten. If the wire is in bad shape, just run a new ground wire.

Tach is run by the Alternator! Check the wires on the Alt. and make sure they are clean and tight! Also clean all your grounds, there should be one at the back of your motor, also one to the frame from your battery's! And the ground for your dash! Bad grounds cause a lot of intermittent problems! This is the motor compartment on our 96 Windsor. See the ground strap on the frame to the motor, under the Alt.? Hope this helps? Rail!

TPS did not solve problem
Replaced TPS but still no throttle. Cleaned up connections. How do I get entry to dash gauges? I can unscrew the panel with gauges but it is too combersome to pull forward. The padded dash unscrews but only comes forward 6 inches, too confined to work at that angle. Any clue as to how the 1998 Monaco can access that area? Thanks, Becky
